Generally, when there have been enough expressions of interest in volunteering for the on call lawyers network to run a workshop, a two hour workshop (worth 2 MCLE points) is organised.

This is usually run by the CJSN Educator and the IDRS Principal Solicitor, and is held in the evening at IDRS’s offices in Redfern, Sydney. Workshop usually starts around 6 pm to allow lawyers to attend after work.

At the orientation workshop volunteer lawyers receive:

• volunteer Solicitor or Barrister Agreement (to be signed and returned)
• role of Support Workers in Police Interviews policy
• serious Offences Procedural Guidelines
• volunteer Lawyer Network Information form
