Generally a two hour workshop (worth 2 MCLE points) is organised.
This is run by the CJSN Manager and the IDRS Principal Solicitor, and is held during a weekday evening in Redfern, or the Sydney CBD. The workshop usually starts at around 6 pm to allow lawyers to attend after work.

At the orientation workshop volunteer lawyers receive:

• Volunteer Solicitor or Barrister Agreement (to be signed and returned)
• Role of Support Persons in Police Interviews policy
• Serious Offences Procedural Guidelines
• Volunteer Lawyer Network Information form
